AeroGarden

I have decided to propagate my seeds in a few different ways:

- seeds directly sown in the raised beds

- seeds planted in soil in plastic plant containers I've saved over the years

- an aerogarden seed starter

First I want to say that I've never used an aerogarden EVER. However, I've gifted an aerogarden to my brother, who loves his and has grown herbs in his kitchen all year long pretty successfully. I'm am struggling with the idea that this might not work at all. I've watched a bunch of youtube reviews on propagating seeds with an aerogarden, and so far it's been mixed.

Since I'm spending most of my budget on seeds, I did not want want to go too crazy with seed growing systems. Some of the systems I researched online are quite elaborate, taking up a lot of space, requiring grow lights and warm locations in the house. With my cats having access to most of the spaces in my house, this really does not work as there is a good chance they will eat all the seedlings if they are left in an open space.

The aerogarden can be moved from room to room, away from my cats when we leave the house, and I don't need to worry about sunlight. The company has also manufactured a new seed starting insert that allows for more seeds to be grown at one time. So I went ahead and borrowed my mom's aerogarden that she has never used, and spent $20 on the seed growing insert! Seeds will be started on March 19th, and I'll be posting the first round of seeds to go in the aerogarden in my next blog post.
