Finding Creativity

I've been working hard to try and expand on the third personal growth goal I have as part of this project. Just a quick flashback to a post from a few weeks ago:

"Finding creativity and value in myself outside of my art: this has been a hard one for me to work on in life, but especially during COVID times. I find myself often talking to my students about this idea when working on getting through writers block. For me, cooking has always been a creative release, a quick way to find value outside of the music I make. However, COVID has taken away some of the joy and release I've found in cooking because I am now doing it ALL THE TIME. I'm honestly "burnt" on cooking. So I feel this is an opportunity to take my own advice and be creative outside of making music. My value as a person is so directly related to the music I make and the music I write. So I feel that growing something will help me find even more value in myself. "

So I have come up with two ways to find creativity and value in myself:

- the first is that gardening is actually reinvigorating my desire to cook. I've been looking up new recipes that correspond to the vegetables I am growing, and trying them out with store bought produce until my vegetables are full grown.

- the second is by growing flowers. I've always loved having fresh flowers around the house, but I'm not the kind of person that buys them for myself. So I feel this will give me an opportunity to grow them, and enjoy that same beauty in the house, while giving me the chance to create my own flower arrangements!

I planted my first batch of flower seeds this past weekend, and I am trying to start them outside in my coldframe. I'll keep you updated on how it works out! Unfortunately these will not be full grown until June, but it's a good start!
