Personal Growth Check In

I thought I'd give you another update on my personal growth goals:

committing to a task: I've got a nice check list going at the moment for each week of this assignment. As I mentioned in my last post, this project essentially spanned 14 weeks in my checklist. The only delay at this point is thanks to the weather. It is too early to start my seeds, but the ground still has snow on it. I also learned that I miscalculated my last frost date. I should have added in 2 to 3 weeks for safety. So I'm going to hold off on starting my seedlings until March 19th. That still gives me plenty of time to start them, transplant them, and harden them off before it's safe to put them outside. I am hoping to sow some seeds directly in the raised beds at some point this week!

Learning to accept failure: I haven't failed yet! But I am doing ok with the idea that I might not grow anything. However, some of my bulbs are coming up and that has me feeling pretty triumphant!

Finding creativity and value in myself outside of my art: I have always been the kind of person that thrives on being as busy as possible, and I always find inspiration to compose in those moments. So, as usual, thanks to grad school, teaching, and this assignment, I am fairly busy, and feeling positive, and of course I wrote a new song this week. So all of that I feel like goes hand in hand. I feel creative and have found value outside of my art, and that then influences my ability to make art. A win win if you ask me.

(these are snow drops that I planted in November that just came up this week as the snow melted closest to the house)
