Seeds have been ordered!

(photo of art from Hudson Valley Seed Company)

So the timeline of this growth assignment had me a little confused, and I started working on this project February 4th, but started posting regularly on February 21st after the final project proposal was due. Since I didn't have to do any revisions to my project, I was able to get started right away and ordered seeds on February 8th!!

I'm so excited to have found Hudson Valley Seed Company thanks to a recommendation from a few of my gardener friends. Hudson Valley Seed Company is located in Accord, NY. They provide heirloom and open pollinated seeds. They are, "committed to growing organically, sourcing locally and sustainably, and preserving crop diversity by selecting unique, rare, and hard-to-find varieties. Every seed in our catalog is open pollinated, many are heirloom and organic, and they are never GMO." They also create these beautiful art packs for their seeds that provide a platform for artists across the United States, a little backstory about the heirloom seed variety in the pack, and the full planting instructions. I'll post a photo of a few of the packages once the seeds arrive.

Hudson Valley Seed Company also has a wonderful mailing list, that I've joined, that provides readers with monthly information about things you can do to get your garden ready for the season, including plants that can be started, or even when to clean out the bird houses (we have two that wrens live in each year).

I'm going to catch up on a bunch of the things I did the first few weeks of class in the next few posts! So stay tuned!
