The ground has mostly thawed and the raised beds are ready to be prepared for planting this weekend! I kept some of the herbs in the raised beds to see if they would survive the winter. So I plan to start my spring seeds in either the farther bed or closer bed, saving the center bed for the seeds that will be planted directly in a few weeks. Those seeds are arriving soon, and I'll post an update about them in a few days.

There are a few steps I need to take to prepare these beds. First I'll need to rake out the soil, pulling up some of the root systems from last season, and the rocks that some of my friend's kids "planted." I will also be doctoring up the soil with some additional supplements, including plant fertilizer. I'm also learning about some specific nutrients that might benefit certain vegetables more than others.

I'll have some new photos to share this weekend after I get the seeds into the ground!
