Tomatoes and rain...

I transplanted my tomatoes a few days ago, and over the past few days we have gotten a ton of rain. While this has really helped all the leafy greens in the garden thrive, it has been really difficult for the tomatoes. As part of my research I've learned that tomatoes do not like soggy roots... As you can see in the photo below, the garden on the left with my salad savor mix and spinach and arugula loves the cool, wet weather, but the tomatoes that I transplanted have all gotten sick, with shriveling and wilting leaves.

The only way to fix this is to prevent them from getting more water and let the roots dry out. So in terms of accepting failure, this has been a hard one to accept. However, thanks to my research I am dealing better with accepting that my tomato seedlings might die, and doing the best I can. I've covered them with a cold frame, and fortunately the weather is supposed to be dry and warm the next 7 days...

Later this week I will get to pursue the creativity portion of my growth mindset by making my first salad with the greens! I am so excited and will post a photo and blog update later this week.

Lastly, the committing to a task has continued to be difficult. My schedule is booked solid, and I currently have kale and basil that needs to be transplanted... they are roughing it out in the aerogarden a few more days until I have a moment to come up for air on Friday afternoon and hopefully get them planted.
